ETDE’S
REVENUES HIT ONE BILLION EUROS IN 2005
THANKS TO 4 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS GROWTH
ETDE, Bouygues Construction’s electricity and maintenance
subsidiary, posted revenues of €1 billion in 2005.
This achievement marks the successful culmination of the
growth project launched by the company four years ago, which
has seen revenues more than double (from €425 million
in 2001) and employee numbers increase by the same ratio
from 4,000 to 10,000, while at the same time delivering
significant improvements in profitability.
4 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS GROWTH
In January 2006, ETDE has continued its growth policy by
making the following four acquisitions, bringing in €60
million in additional revenues: Aygobère, which gives
ETDE a greater presence in South-West France, notably in
energy networks; Gilbert Frères, which specialises
in electrical installation for the rail industry; telephony
systems specialist Technitelec, based in South-East France;
and Imatec, an HVAC systems design, installation and maintenance
firm headquartered in the North of France.
These acquisitions are the fruit of ETDE’s ongoing
external growth strategy, launched in 2001 with the following
goals:
- enhancing our geographical coverage to bring ETDE closer
to its customers,
- boosting our capabilities to provide a more comprehensive
offering to customers.
In the past four years, thanks to this strategy, ETDE has
integrated a total of 34 companies, established a presence
in 21 new French departments, embarked on a programme of
European acquisitions, and brought in cutting-edge capabilities
in areas like industrial maintenance, HVAC engineering and
air treatment, robotics, industrial automation, etc.
In parallel with this strategy of external growth, all
of the company’s core business areas have seen strong
organic growth (around +15% in 2005). Between 2001 and
2005, ETDE’s revenues grew by an average of 25%
year-on-year, peaking at 34% in 2004-2005.
EMPLOYEE NUMBERS DOUBLED
The acquisition of 34 companies has meant 5600 new employees
for ETDE. At the same time, to keep pace with corporate
growth, the company recruited 800 permanent staff in 2005,
and plans to bring in a further 1000 in 2006 across all
business areas.
ETDE IN 2006
ETDE is a turnkey provider and integrator of technical
and services solutions for public- and private-sector
customers in the energy, industry, service, transport,
environment and telecommunications sectors. ETDE offers
comprehensive capabilities that encompass finance, design,
engineering, installation, maintenance and operation for
both French and international customers in three main
business areas: utility networks; electrical, mechanical
& HVAC engineering; and facilities management &
telecoms.
ETDE’s perfectly balanced portfolio ensures harmonious
growth without exposing the company to fluctuations in
the economic climate:
- public-sector customers account for 60% of revenues,
private-sector customers 40%,
- the risks inherent in complex major projects are offset
by small-scale works contracts as well as repeat business
from the majority of public-sector customers,
- the sheer range of capabilities on offer nullifies the
risks associated with a single-product offering,
- international growth strategy prevents ETDE from being
tied to domestic markets.
With revenues of €1 billion and 10,000 employees, ETDE
is now ranked sixth among the leading companies in its sector.
