ETDE makes
two main commitments to its employees
 |
Lead the field in occupational health
and safety, across all its businesses
True to its absolute priority of physical and
moral integrity for all employees, ETDE has set
the single target of zero accidents. As well as
developing advanced workstation ergonomics and
providing thorough training on safety principles,
ETDE goes further still in promoting employee
health and safety, with initiatives such as awareness-raising
campaigns on abuse of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
|
|
 |
Develop
employees' skills and equal opportunity
ETDE is highly attentive to career progression
and job satisfaction, crucial factors in the
personal development of its employees. Sustainable
development is energetically promoted as integral
to working practice in all functions. And ETDE
is an active proponent of equal opportunity,
encouraging diversity through programmes to
achieve a good balance between men and women
employees and offer employment openings to populations
in difficulty, including disabled people. |
Examples of ETDE best practice
 |
In May 2006, ETDE was the first company in its sector to sign a disability recruitment agreement. Three years on, the initiative has proved highly successful, with 60 disabled people recruited and over €400,000 allocated to work in the sheltered sector. A renewed commitment was made in 2009 based on three major themes: the recruitment of 42 disabled people, continued employment for personnel in difficulty, and subcontracting to specialist organisations in the sheltered sector.

On
23 March 2007, all ETDE sites took part in the
Great Spring Clean operation, to sort, tidy,
organise and clean up the workplace. Some 250
tonnes of waste was removed, and sorted for
ecological disposal (paper, plastics, metal,
etc.).
|
 |
At
its subsidiaries in Africa, ETDE set up medical
centers for personnel and their families
in 2006, to provide training, condom distribution,
awareness-raising using audiovisual media, voluntary
screening, etc. The offer of HIV screening has
already been taken up by around 80% of the workforce
at the Ivory Coast subsidiary Sidelaf.

 |
ETDE held a special health and safety day on Friday 20 March 2009 to mark the start of a new campaign aimed at reducing workplace and road accidents as well as occupational health problems. All of the company’s 13,000 employees in France and in 30 countries around the world, from site workers to the company Chairman, will take part in the event. It marks the start of a new action plan within the scope of company/Group sustainable development policy. The plan’s ambitious aims include cutting workplace and road accidents by half over the next twelve months.

In
May 2007, ETDE subsidiary Ecovert FM opened
its Facilities Management University,
offering refresher courses for practising personnel,
induction courses for new graduates, and basic
training programmes. Training at the centre
totalled 20,000 hours in 2007.

Under
its programme of continuous improvement In management,
ETDE carried out a management survey
in 2007, addressing its 8,000 employees in France.
The response rate of 31.5% was higher than usually
observed in this kind of operation. Survey findings
provided the basis for a precise action plan
that was closely tracked throughout the year. |
