ETDE is firmly committed to developing skills versatility
and technical competence across its workforce, through sustained
training investment that amounts to 3.5% of the total payroll.
Every year, training courses in all relevant disciplines (technology,
safety, management, communication, etc.) reach production
and support personnel in all categories (site workers, supervisors
and managers), enabling them to keep abreast of shifting markets
and emerging customer expectations. To improve management
quality, ETDE runs a special three-week inter-company "Management
Preparation Cycle" (CPM) for trainee
managers and key ETDE personnel, to develop a global strategic
vision of the company and set up an efficient exchange network.
A total of 24 people took the CPM course in 2005. Additional
courses such as the Ulysse and Marco Polo programmes are available
through Bouygues Construction and the Bouygues group; training
opportunity is one of the great advantages of membership of
a major group.
Edouard:
"ETDE training courses are closely
matched to practical needs"
"Over the last four years
I've taken four training courses: three one-day courses
-on legal environment, sales practices and remuneration
reviews- and one three-week programme -CPM- culminating
in a report to senior management on corporate issues.
This course is very well designed, with quality instructors
and highly relevant subject matter. By and large, ETDE
training courses are closely matched to practical needs,
and the results are immediately applicable."

François:
"Cross-company understanding
means more relevant response to market opportunity"
"In my ten years with the
Bouygues group I've taken quite a few training courses,
and done quite a few different jobs. I started in road
works with Screg, then moved on to telephony with Bouygues
Telecom, and today I'm back in network maintenance,
with ETDE. This broad experience has enabled me to develop
a wide range of techniques and skills. Part of my job
involves designing training plans to help personnel
progress in accordance with their capabilities and aspirations.
With ETDE, I had the chance to take the CPM course,
which provides very valuable insights into company operation
and develops effective group-wide networking. Cross-company
synergy and understanding means more extensive and more
relevant response to market opportunity."
Jean-Michel:
"The CPM course develops a sound
sense of company-wide unity"
"It's a great privilege to
be selected for the CPM course. In-house instructors
provide a thorough grounding in company practices and
values, while outside instructors, from the best business
and management schools, draw from a broader business
context. The other great advantage of this course is
that it develops a sound sense of company-wide unity,
through productive exchange with people from different
specialities and regions."
